Think independently, take up social responsibility and act on newly discovered facts and rules
Shaw College
Major:
Applied Economics
Xu Zonglin Scholarship
My name is Ziyang Zhu. I am a junior student from the School of Management and Economics. I major in applied economics.
I set up the Shimmer with my fellow students after entering college. I tried my best to do as many meaningful things as possible when I was the president of the Shimmer.
I am not sure whether this is the most effective way to give back to society. Nowadays, many public interest groups need to be innovative to increase the efficiency and output of public welfare. So this summer, I went to a couple of colleges and relevant institutions to learn how to do this. I interned in NPI and CYCAN. I took part in Climate Reality Project launched by former US Vice-President Al Gore. I wanted to learn something from their experience to capitalize on social resources and solve social issues.
This college encourages me to think independently, take up social responsibility and act on newly discovered facts and rules.
